You can now access photos from the 4th Annual Chinese Film Festival at this link. Vincent's presence at the Cannes Film Festival was noted over four days. He did not attend any of the premieres but he and his wife were invited to the Dior & Elle Magazine Dinner held on May 18th. You can check out the photos at the Cannes 2014 gallery.

As some of you may know, Vincent is the father of three children. Oldest daughter Iman turned 15 this month and twins Tess and Pablo are 11. Here are some cute pics of the bunch. Though Pablo's name is Spanish, he appears to favor his mother's culture with that Afro!

On May 13th former First Lady of France Carla Bruni-Sarkozy gave a concert at the Casino de Paris, at which time she received a platinum disc for her fourth album. Many of her friends, as well as her husband, were present to celebrate this special honor. In the photos below, Karine poses with Carla and Marie Sara and her husband, Europacorp General Director Christophe Lambert.

When Vincent was in Russia last month, he was asked about his relationship to the former President of France. He explained that he had lived with Carla Bruni for two years and after parting, they managed to maintain a great relationship. When Carla became engaged, Vincent was introduced to Nicolas and a friendship was struck between them. Vincent says, "We often spend holidays together, love to go to the south of France. Last year we rented bikes and rode through small villages... He is a beautiful, intelligent man, very clever. He has a large collection of old books and manuscripts... Nicolas is very unusual man and, in my opinion, there is no comparison to the incumbent president."

I'm presently on holiday so these updates will be brief. More photos and information will be posted later this month upon my return home. This past week there were several events that Vincent attended but, most importantly, I wanted to share this news on his major upcoming project - ALONE IN BERLIN.

CANNES (May 14, 2014) – Academy Award-winner Emma Thompson, and renowned actors Daniel Brühl and Mark Rylance have been confirmed to star in Vincent Perez’s "Alone in Berlin".

X-Filme’s Stefan Arndt and Uwe Schott, and Master Movie’s Marco Pacchioni  are producing together with James Schamus with a screenplay written by Achim von Borries and Vincent Perez. The film will be co-produced by FilmWave’s Christian Grass and Paul Trijbits who are also handling the UK rights. X-Filme retains the German rights and Master Movie the French rights, with Alison Thompsons’ Sunray Films handling international sales and distribution for all other territories. Joining the production team are cinematographer Stéphan Fontaine, editor Francois Gédigier and production designer Jean-Vincent Puzos. Marco Pacchioni said, "It’s been a long journey since I bought the rights to the novel with Vincent Perez seven years ago. I am happy to see so many great actors, producers and distributors join us on our adventure to bring this extraordinary work to the big screen."  "Alone in Berlin" will commence pre-production later this year in Germany.

As reported in previous posts, Vincent went to Russia April 23-24 to promote his latest film, KITCHEN IN PARIS. Check out the new movie page. In the romantic comedy Vincent plays an irresistable French chef named Nicolas, who's handsome, a ladies' man and a bit of a snob. Owners of a trendy metropolitan restaurant in Moscow called "Claude Monet" fall out of favor with local authorities and are forced to move their culinary team to Paris. A classic love triangle develops between Chef Max (Mark Boyatyrev), the restaurant manager Viktoria (Elena Podkaminskaya) and Vincent's character.

On the 23rd he visited St. Petersburg where he attended a pre-premiere of this film at the Art cinema and also found time to conduct a cooking class at Jérôme's restaurant. The following day he attended the official premiere of the film in Moscow at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre. He also participated in a culinary master class given by senior chef Aziz Saffar with the actors and crew of the film at the Novinsky Passazh shopping mall's CulinaryOn studio.

As part of Vincent's visit to St. Petersburg, he led a master class in cooking at Jérôme's restaurant on April 22. The Russian press reported that he cooked "with professionalism worthy of the best chefs in the world!" And what did he prepare? He shared some of his culinary secrets which included his creation of beef tartare and a burger.  Vincent was quoted as saying, "The dishes we're cooking today are perfectly suited to not only wine but also a good beer. I must say that in France, contrary to popular belief, beer is becoming more popular in the more northern regions, closer to the border with Germany."  Check out the photo gallery.
